We Evolve.

G5 Collective has evolved over the past 3 years, in terms of its function and membership. In its first iteration, Liz Gates and Doug Welsh formed the G5 Collective Summer Intensive in response to the isolation of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The program was designed for University of Houston graduate artists to create work, build community, explore the Houston arts scene, and present their work in a culminating exhibition. At the end of the summer, Liz and Doug decided to split the G5 Collective and the Summer Intensive, effectively creating two separate programs.

We’ve continued to show as G5 Collective, while further developing our mission and purpose. The shows listed below mark the changes in membership over the years. We are grateful to have collaborated with all of these amazing artists at various points in our evolution as G5 Collective: Isela Aguirre, Charis Ammon, Layla Bispo, Brian Ellison, Mark Francis, Julia Kidd, Michelle Matthews, Cat Davila-Martinez, Sydney Parks, Hollie Stephan, Lee Walters and Isabelle Zimmerman.
